History

1990
Arnold Schwarzenegger is appointed to the President's Council Physical Fitness and Sports. Arnold served as Chairman from 1990-1993 and traveled to schools in all 50 states to promote physical fitness. This experience led him on a crusade to change kids’ lives.

1991
Arnold Schwarzenegger was invited to serve as Executive Commissioner of the Inner-City Games (ICG), to bring after school sports programs and events to at risk youth.

1993
Arnold Schwarzenegger launches the Inner-City Games Foundation which brought sports to at-risk youth nationwide.

1997
The Inner-City Games Foundation expands its after school sports programs and events for at risk youth to San Jose, California and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

1999
The Inner-City Games Foundation expands its after school sports programs and events for at risk youth to Orlando, Florida.

2000
The Inner-City Games Foundation expands its after school sports programs and events for at risk youth to Detroit, Michigan and Columbus, Ohio.

2001
HUMMER teams with the Inner-City Games Foundation as a national sponsor to provide after school programs for at risk youth. The Todd Wagner Foundation comes on board as a partner with the foundation.

2002
The After School Alliance names Arnold Schwarzenegger an Honorary Chairperson. The After School Education and Safety Act of 2002 (California’s Proposition 49) is overwhelmingly passed by California voters.

2003
The Inner-City Games Foundation changes its name to After-School All-Stars. Arnold Schwarzenegger testifies before the U.S. Congress about the benefits of after school programs. After-School All-Stars co-hosts the First After School Summit in Washington, D.C.

2004
Arnold Schwarzenegger names Dwayne Johnson,' The Rock', as the new National Spokesperson for After-School All-Stars. After-School All-Stars partners with Foundations, Inc. to establish a comprehensive after-school programming curriculum. Arnold Schwarzenegger Announces Cisneros Chairman of After-School All-Stars.

2005
HUMMER and Cendant Corporation renew their National After-School All-Stars Sponsorships. After-School All-Stars launches a national public service announcement campaign. The TODAY Show recognizes After-School All-Stars in a nationally broadcast show segment.
