After-School All-Stars, formerly known as Inner-City Games, began in 1991 in Los Angeles when Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joined forces with Danny Hernandez, Director of East Los Angeles' Hollenbeck Center. Creating the After-School All-Stars Foundation in 1995 and serving as its Chairman, Governor Schwarzenegger expanded the program to a total of 15 U.S. cities, of which Columbus is one. Nationally, After-School All-Stars currently offers 375 after school programs, 189 computer technology centers and approximately 300 sports programs.

After-School All-Stars (ASAS) Columbus was formed in August of 2000 under the direction of Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Honorary Chair and Governor Schwarzenegger. In December of 2003, ASAS Columbus added a new Executive Director
